Have you ever looked at a celebrity, family member, or friend and thought, “She’s such an inspiration”?
Many young women look up to someone for one reason or another, but often don’t realize that they are an inspirational woman too. Don’t strive to be an inspiration, you’ll become one organically through the way you treat others and the world around you.
Start something great. Find a cause that you’re passionate about and figure out a way that you can support it. It can be something as small as raising money or supplies among a group of friends or as big as starting a non-profit organization for a cause. Take Beyonce for example. She started the Survivor Foundation as a way of helping families who get displaced by natural disasters. Putting the welfare of others before your own occasionally is quite noble.
Turn negatives into positives. If you’ve been through a tough situation, you can be a source of comfort to others going through the same thing. Additionally, talking about what you’ve been through is the perfect platform for raising awareness about the issue. By doing this you empower others to push through tough times and are a symbol of hope. Demi Lovato has done this with the issues of bullying, eating disorders and self-harm. She speaks out to raise awareness and has inspired so many young women with her own personal journey.
Use your talents for good. Everyone has some kind of talent and if you think about it, there’s surely a way you can use it to benefit others. For example, if you’re good at painting nails go offer your services to women in a nursing home. If you’re skilled at sports, offer to help coach a children’s team. Whatever your talent is, use that gift to help others. People are usually so grateful when others volunteer their time to help them. Ellen DeGeneres does this daily by using her comedic talent and fame to help others.
Spread love and kindness. Just simply being kind to everyone you come across says something about who you are. Hold doors for people, smile at a stranger, and ask people how they’re doing; it can make all the difference in someone’s day. Going out of your way to make others feel good is part of being someone others look up to. Celebrities like Selena Gomez have done this by visiting children’s hospitals to put smiles on the faces of the patients.
Work hard. Striving to be the best that you can be is inspirational in and of itself. Other people admire those who are driven to follow their dreams. A musician by the name of Alexander DeLeon once said, “You haven’t fully inspired someone until you inspire them to inspire someone else.” In essence, inspiration should be a never ending chain. If what you do motivates someone else to take action, then you have succeeded. Female gymnast Gabby Douglas is one example of someone well on her way to achieving this.
